🎶 Sound Healing FAQ

What is Sound Healing?

Sound healing is a therapeutic practice that uses vibrational frequencies to bring the body, mind, and energy field back into a state of harmony.

As a Level 3 Certified Sound Healer trained in Rishikesh, I work primarily with traditional Tibetan singing bowls—known for their deep, grounding overtones that are especially powerful for individual healing. Unlike crystal bowls, which project sound outward and are often used in group settings, Tibetan bowls emit a rich, multi-layered frequency that resonates deeply within the body. Their vibration supports deep relaxation, nervous system regulation, and energy realignment in a gentle, effective way.

How does sound healing work?

Everything in the body vibrates—our cells, organs, brainwaves, and emotions. When we experience stress, emotional suppression, or trauma, those vibrations can become dissonant, leading to tension, fatigue, or feeling energetically “off.” Sound healing uses specific tones and rhythms to help restore balance to these internal frequencies. Vibrational instruments like Tibetan bowls and tuning forks entrain the brain to slower, calmer wave states—such as alpha and theta—activating the parasympathetic nervous system and supporting emotional and physical healing. This process not only helps clear energetic blockages but also enhances clarity, relaxation, and vitality.

What are the benefits of sound healing?

Sound healing can support healing on every level—physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Clients often experience it:

🧠 Regulates the nervous system
💧 Releases stored emotions
🌫 Clears mental fog and improves clarity
💤 Enhances sleep quality
😌 Reduces anxiety and stress
🌀 Realigns and balances your energy field (chakras)
🌟 Creates space for insight and deeper self-connection
🪶 Promotes a sense of lightness, calm, and ease

What does a session feel like?

During a session, you’ll lie down fully clothed (with an optional blanket) in a safe and comfortable space while I play Tibetan bowls and other vibrational instruments around your body. You may feel the sound as physical vibrations, experience visions or colors, or simply drift into a meditative or dream-like state. Many clients fall into deep relaxation or feel emotions release gently without needing to talk through them. No two sessions are the same, but most people leave feeling calmer, clearer, and more grounded.

Is there science behind sound healing?

Yes! Sound healing is backed by both ancient traditions and modern research. Studies show that vibrational therapies can:

🧘‍♀️ Reduce cortisol (the stress hormone)
🧠 Shift brainwave patterns into calm, meditative states
🔥 Lower inflammation in the body
🎧 Binaural beats and low-frequency sound:
  – Entrain the brain for relaxation and focus
  – Support mood regulation, better sleep, and mental clarity
❤️ Improve heart rate variability (HRV) — a key marker of nervous system health
⚡️ Enhance energy regulation and coherence in the body’s systems

🔗 Altogether, sound healing is a powerful complement to Reiki, therapy, bodywork, and conventional medicine.

Is sound healing safe?

Absolutely. Sound healing is a gentle, non-invasive practice that’s safe for almost everyone. It’s especially supportive for those with sensitive nervous systems, people experiencing burnout, or anyone going through emotional or energetic transitions. It works beautifully alongside Reiki, therapy, movement practices, and conventional medical care

Why do I combine sound healing with Reiki?

While Reiki works by channeling life force energy to balance the energetic body, sound healing adds a layer of vibrational medicine that helps the body and brain shift into a more receptive state. The frequencies of the bowls help calm the mind, slow the breath, and prepare the energy field—so Reiki can work more deeply and effectively. Together, Reiki and sound healing create a multidimensional experience that supports full-system healing: physically, emotionally, mentally, and energetically. Most of my clients find the combination to be more grounding, soothing, and transformative than either modality on its own.

How does sound healing help me personally?

As someone who leads a very full life—working as a healthcare director, running Fit To Be a Strong Leader, staying physically active, and showing up for my loved ones—sound healing has become a powerful way I care for myself.

Sound healing hits me differently each time—and that’s what makes it such a profound practice. Sometimes, I leave a session feeling deeply grounded, clear, and peaceful. Other times, I notice that I feel more emotionally raw or even irritable—not in a bad way, but in a way that shows me what’s no longer in alignment with my greater good. It brings up what needs to be felt, seen, or released. Sound healing helps me let go of emotional residue, unspoken tension, or attachments that are quietly draining me. It’s not always about relaxation—it’s about realignment. It creates space for truth to surface and gives me the clarity to move through life more consciously.
